Air Force Receives First Lockheed-Built GPS III Satellite for Launch Prep


TYSONS CORNER, VA, August 29, 2018 ” Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has shipped the first GPS III satellite from Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida as part of a U.S. Air Force program to modernize the existing GPS constellation, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.

The company said Monday the GPS III Space Vehicle 01 will undergo preparations for its launch by the end of the year and is the first of 10 units that Lockheed is building for the Air Force, with the service branch recently declaring the second GPS III space vehicle “available for launch.”
