Peter Cannito: Redwire Eyes Space Infrastructure Expansion With DSS Acquisition

Redwire, an aerospace company backed by AE Industrial Partners, has bought satellite solar array developer Deployable Space Systems for an undisclosed sum.

Goleta, California-based DSS manufactures deployable hardware to support space missions of commercial and government customers such as NASA, which intends to use the company’s technology to update solar arrays on the International Space Station, Redwire said Tuesday.

Peter Cannito, chairman and CEO of Redwire, said the deal would add new technology and expand the company’s portfolio of space infrastructure offerings.

Fell, Marking, Abkin, Montgomery, Granet & Raney acted as DSS’ legal adviser on the transaction while PwC and Kirkland & Ellis served as Redwire’s financial and legal advisers, respectively.

The acquisition serves as the seventh for Redwire to date.
