Leonardo DRS (Nasdaq: DRS) has won a potential $235.9 million contract from the U.S. Navy to produce, test and deliver AN/SPQ-9B radar systems.
The Department of Defense said Tuesday Naval Sea Systems Command launched an online competitive procurement process and received two offers for the firm-fixed-price contract.
The contract for the fabrication of the anti-ship missile defense radar platform combines purchases for the Navy and the Japanese government under the foreign military sales program.
The company will perform work in Florida and Pennsylvania through May 2027 under the base term, which is valued at approximately $66.2 million.
Contract work will continue through July 2030 if all options are exercised.
In May, Leonardo DRS secured a Navy contract to provide design agent and engineering services to modernize the military branch’s AN/SPQ-9B systems.
AN/SPQ-9B is an X-band radar designed for littoral operations and consists of four below-deck cabinets, an above-deck antenna unit and a motor generator. The pulse Doppler radar performs automatic and simultaneous detection and tracking of low-altitude threats, including aircraft, cruise missiles and unmanned vehicles.
