Ericsson (Nasdaq: ERIC) has established a new entity focused on helping U.S. defense and federal government agencies accelerate 5G-driven digital modernization efforts to improve U.S. national and economic security.
Christopher Ling, a nearly three-decade Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) veteran, will serve as CEO of Ericsson Federal Technologies Group, the telecommunications company said Tuesday.
Ling previously served as Booz Allen’s executive vice president and group lead of the U.S. national security business.
EFTG will provide advisory services to existing clients and other organizations to support 5G-related use cases, work with U.S. government entities and systems integrators to identify requirements and drive innovation and offer capabilities meant to help the government promote interoperability and connectivity in multidomain operations and address other complex communication challenges.

We are excited to build on existing projects with the US government including the DoD where Ericsson provides the foundation for multiple 5G prototype deployments and expand into additional government agencies with our innovation and leadership,” said Yossi Cohen, president and head of Ericsson North America.
Brian Kassa, a telecommunications industry executive, has taken on the role of vice president of mission critical systems at EFTG.
He announced the move in a LinkedIn post published Tuesday.
Kassa most recently served as VP and head of mission critical systems at Ericsson, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Before joining Ericsson in 2020, he was director of technology and planning and development at the First Responder Network Authority. He also held leadership positions at Nokia, including director of technology for public safety broadband and head of convergence.
