The Department of Defense’s budget for fiscal year 2024 was $824.3 billion, a sizable amount of which was devoted to acquisition and procurement from the industrial base. Thousands or perhaps even hundreds of thousands of companies, from two-person startups to multi-billion dollar enterprises in their own right vied for these contracts, which covered weapon design and production, technology innovation, force management and much more.
For your edification and perusal, we have assembled some of the largest and most significant defense contracts awarded during the 2024 calendar year.
But deals are not struck before extensive research and development occurs to conceptualize and propose the technologies that undergird many of these awards. At the Potomac Officers Club’s 2025 Defense R&D Summit on Jan. 23, top DOD officials will address the government contracting community to discuss the tech that’s currently bubbling up, as well as the problem areas that need solving through future tools and services. Don’t miss this exciting networking opportunity!
