With only a little over a month left to go in 2024, Potomac Officers Club—the government contracting industry’s most celebrated and successful community—has one event remaining: the 2024 Healthcare Summit. Every year, this exciting symposium gathers the most respected minds in federal healthcare technology delivery to speak directly to GovCon executives. It will be a day full of dealmaking, unpredictable panel discussions and informative discourse, all centering around four keynote speakers. Allow us to introduce you to these distinguished guests.
Steven Posnack
Opening keynote: 8:05–8:45 a.m.
Formerly working under the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, Steven Posnack is now principal assistant secretary for technology policy and principal deputy national coordinator within the newly formed Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy and Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. This new component is the result of a reorganization and consolidation within the Department of Health and Human Services midway through this year. It is meant to unify and strengthen public-private partnerships and activities where technology, data and artificial intelligence intersect, among other purposes.
Posnack, who has worked at HHS for just about two decades, will bring unique and informed ideas about health policy, IT and information security to the Potomac Officers Club stage.
Jeffrey Neill
Morning keynote: 8:45–9:20 a.m.
Equally important as representation from HHS at the Healthcare Summit are voices from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Jeffrey Neill, associate executive director of the VA’s Technology Acquisition Center, will satisfy this need, while also adding tech procurement know-how that will resonate deeply with the GovCon audience. Neill will share what tools and solutions the VA is looking for and the collaboration opportunities for contractors that are coming down the pike.
Jennifer Wendel
Afternoon keynote: 2:00–2:35 p.m.
While healthcare is HHS’ primary concern, effective and innovative IT delivery is placed above all else for Jennifer Wendel, the department’s deputy chief information officer. Wendel logged 19 years at the FBI, culminating in the role of section chief of enterprise IT governance, before coming to HHS in early 2023. She is a shrewd program manager and is committed to achieving continuous modernization goals under budget and ahead of schedule. Lee Ann Crochunis
Closing keynote: 2:35–3:10 p.m.
Rounding out the day of IT-focused sessions will be Lee Ann Crochunis, here to share the IT perspective from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The deputy director of the agency’s Office of Information Technology boasts a combination of industry and government experience that will inform her remarks and has allowed her to see beyond the borders of the federal space. At the same time, Crochunis has a close familiarity with all things Medicare. She is ready to share how the $744 million IT spend of CMS will be allocated.
