Lockheed Awarded $424M to Help Sustain Army Apache Pilotage, Targeting Systems


ApacheLockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has been awarded a potential five-year, $424 million contract to sustain an integrated targeting and pilotage technology on the U.S. Army‘s fleet of AH-64D/E Apache attack helicopters.

The Army has obligated $31.8 million at the time of award and the one-year base period of performance for the Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor sustainment program runs through December 2016, Lockheed said Wednesday.

M-TADS/PNVS works to help Apache pilots track and engage potential targets from a long range in daytime or nighttime missions or during extreme weather conditions.

Lockheed said it has supplied more than 1, 350 units and spares of its M-TADS/PNVS technology to U.S. and international defense customers.

Apache attack helicopters are designed and built by Boeing (NYSE: BA).
