Parsons and V2X have established a joint venture, called Polar Science Alliance, to pursue the National Science Foundation’s potential $8 billion Antarctic Science and Engineering Support Contract, or ASESC.
What Is ASESC?
ASESC is a single-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract meant to provide scientific research support services for the U.S. Antarctic Program, or USAP, over the next 20 years.
Under the IDIQ contract, NSF, which has maintained a key U.S. presence in Antarctica for more than six decades, oversees all scientific research initiatives and logistical operations in Antarctica and aboard ships in the Southern Ocean through USAP.
Through the contract, the agency seeks to understand the region’s impact on climate and other global processes and leverage Antarctica’s unique features for scientific studies.
Polar Science Alliance
PSA will provide capabilities and support services in the areas of science and research, global logistics, operations and engineering.
The joint venture combines Parsons’ over five decades of polar operations experience and capabilities in logistics, program and construction management and engineering with V2X’s over 20 years of science support experience and knowledge of working in polar climates for over a decade.
“Polar Science Alliance stands ready to bring the experience and resources of its parent companies, Parsons and V2X, to the world-class United States Antarctic Program,” said Jon Moretta, president of engineered systems at Parsons.
Moretta noted that Parsons brings to PSA years of polar operations experience, including work as the modernization designer and builder on the Antarctica Infrastructure Modernization for Science Project.
“With work from the Arctic U.S. Space Force base to the West-central Pacific Ocean U.S. Army Kwajalein Atoll, V2X is top support for any geographical and geopolitical environment in the world,” said Ken Shreves, senior vice president of mission support at V2X.
