Wahid Nawabi, chairman, president and CEO of AeroVironment, said the fundamental strategies of defense warfare have evolved since the Ukraine conflict.
In a video interview published Friday on CNBC, Nawabi stated that drones, loitering munitions and other weapons systems will “become a much bigger part of the fabric of defense in general.”
He told CNBC host Morgan Brennan that the U.S. and its allies worldwide have to ramp up in terms of capability and volume to respond to threats posed by a lot of bad actors around the world.
The AeroVironment chief executive highlighted the need for systems that can counteract and provide U.S. warfighters with superiority on the battlefield amid the presence of threat actors worldwide.
During the interview, Nawabi mentioned that the company has invested heavily in research and development efforts, sees a strong pipeline of contracts, program records, orders and customers in the U.S. and abroad and expects 2024 to be a record year for AeroVironment.
He also shared how the company prepares for potential changes to Ukraine policy under the incoming administration.
