The IDIQ was awarded following a competitive acquisition process, with three offers received, according to the DOD. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, which serves as the contracting activity, issued a request for information on companies that can provide the required services in March.

According to the notice, the USAF may add other aircraft and locations into the program in the future.
