Theresa Condor, chief operating officer at Spire Global, will succeed Peter Platzer as CEO of the Vienna, Virginia-based data and analytics company.
The leadership transition will take effect Jan. 1 and will see Platzer become executive chairman of the board, Spire said Monday.
Condor, who has helped build up Spire as part of its founding team and expand its offerings, business lines and customer base, aims to focus on streamlining company operations and strong execution at scale to drive its next phase of growth.
“With our recent agreement to sell our maritime business, we are at a transformational point as we seek to become a debt-free company with proven space infrastructure and technology,” remarked Condor. “We are in a strong position to capitalize on significant near-term opportunities that generate long-term value.”
Platzer, on the other hand, will be responsible for leading Spire’s board of directors and guiding its vision and will focus on securing major business opportunities to drive company growth in his new role.
Other Executive Moves at Spire
Condor will be replaced by Celia Pelaz, a former Airbus executive, as COO. The latter most recently held the same post at HENSOLDT AG. She helped separate HENSOLDT from Airbus in 2017 and its initial public offering in 2020.
Gabriel Oehme, another Airbus veteran, was appointed chief transformation officer at Spire. He served as managing director and chief commercial officer of aerospace manufacturing company Aerotech Peissenberg.
“Celia and Gabriel bring invaluable institutional knowledge of the aerospace industry and a wealth of expertise in operations, having effectively managed businesses centered on manufacturing and engineering,” said Condor.
