John Zangardi, former chief information officer of the Department of Homeland Security, has decided to retire as chief executive officer of Redhorse.
The San Diego, California-based company said Monday Zangardi, chairman of Executive Mosaic’s 4×24 Leadership Group 2, will officially retire at the end of 2024. The seasoned digital modernization and cybersecurity executive will continue to serve as a member of its board of directors.
John Zangardi’s Career
The two-time Wash100 Award winner joined Redhorse in 2020 as president before being named CEO in 2021. Zangardi also serves as an independent board member at Qualys and a non-executive director at Symetrica. In addition, he holds advisory roles at various organizations, including Crosspoint Capital Partners, Duality Technologies, Commvault and Absolute Software. He was also an independent board member at Forcepoint.
The executive previously worked as senior vice president at Leidos, overseeing the integration of emerging technology and innovation, emphasizing digital transformation, mission software, logistics, security products and services and other strategic areas.
Before joining the industry, Zangardi was CIO of the DHS where he oversaw end-to-end information technology, network security and spectrum. He was also CIO and principal deputy of the Department of Defense.
Zangardi also served in the U.S. Navy for over eight years. He started as director of program integration before becoming the acting CIO of the Department of the Navy and deputy assistant secretary of the Navy.

Noah Klemm Named Redhorse President
In a related development, Redhorse announced the promotion of Noah Klemm from chief delivery officer to president, effective immediately. He will be responsible for the company’s operations and business strategy.
He joined the company in 2022 following a two-decade career at the former Novetta company.
