Raytheon Awarded $360M in Navy Contracts for Aegis Combat System Repair Work

RTX business Raytheon has received two U.S. Navy contracts worth $360.4 million combined to repair, replace and upgrade parts within two of the 13 major subsystems of the Aegis weapon system.

The Department of Defense said Thursday the awards cover support for two major Aegis subsystems: the MK99 fire control system and the Army Navy Joint Electronics Type Designation Systems Water/Surface Ship, Radar, Surveillance and Control Transmitter Group.

Raytheon will oversee inventory management, warehousing and efforts to achieve supply response time metrics. The vendor will perform work in Virginia and Massachusetts.

One of the two awards is a $186 million delivery order issued under a previously awarded performance-based contract. Work on this sole-source requirement covering 160 parts will run through December 2026.

The other contract covering 365 parts is worth approximately $174.6 million and is expected to conclude by November 2029.

What is Aegis Weapon System?

Aegis is a weapons control system that comes with a phased-array radar that can perform search, track and missile guidance functions.

At the core of this platform is a computer-based command and decision element designed to carry out simultaneous operations against anti-surface, anti-air, anti-submarine warfare and other multimission threats.
