ShadowDragon’s Jonathan Couch on Turning Relevant Data Into Actionable Intelligence Using OSINT Tools

ShadowDragon Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Couch said gathering publicly available information, or PAI, from disparate sources using open source intelligence tools while respecting an individual’s privacy could help government agencies turn collected PAI into actionable intelligence.

In an article published on Carahsoft.com, Couch wrote that selecting which open data sources are relevant relies on the agency’s specific goal or mission.

He said ShadowDragon could help an agency collect and organize PAI and convert the data into valuable and actionable intelligence for a specific use case.

Couch highlighted the importance of ethical OSINT and the need to protect an individual’s privacy when turning relevant information into actionable intelligence.

“Our technology is fully auditable, which means we can reconstruct a user’s investigatory journey from start to finish so that law enforcement or other authorities can source every data point without risk of AI hallucinations,” he noted.

The COO discussed how the company adopts a target-centric approach to gleaning actionable insights from collected data.

“We begin with what the threats are and then gather more information about them. For example, we identify a person who is known to be a threat and search for more information to support an active investigation,” Couch added.
