Digital consulting firm Raft has named Steve Morgan as vice president of data.
Morgan, who announced his latest career development on a LinkedIn post on Sunday, most recently served as the company’s chief data engineer.
According to the executive, Raft provided him the opportunity to work on the data architecture of the U.S. Air Force’s Kessel Run and its cloud-based command and control capability for the Advanced Battle Management System.
Raft’s Contract Win
His appointment comes after the company secured a contract from the Pacific Air Forces in October to modernize Hawaii’s 613th Air Operations Center. In partnership with Red Hat, Microsoft and Beta Blox, Raft will serve as the lead integrator in building AOC Anywhere, a sandbox environment that will enable rapid integration of developmental models and applications with live data and operational applications. The work is expected to provide the 613th AOC with modern and capable software to achieve its mission objectives.
Software Development at Lockheed
Before joining Raft in March 2022, Morgan spent nearly 14 years at Lockheed Martin, where he held various roles, including principal system architect and senior staff software engineer. He said working for Lockheed gave him the chance to design data systems using his expertise in cloud technologies and the modern data stack to inform company decisions.
Morgan holds a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree in computer and information sciences from SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
