Travis Tyler, an executive with almost two decades of industry experience, has been named senior vice president for defense and special missions at Textron Aviation. He will also serve as the president and CEO of Textron Aviation Defense starting Nov.4.
Textron Aviation said Wednesday Tyler, who has returned to the company, will spearhead the division and supervise aircraft sales, specialized mission equipment, maintenance and aircrew training programs, logistics and maintenance support and aftermarket support programs.
The executive previously served as VP and general manager of Able Aerospace Services. He spent almost four years at the Mesa, Arizona-based company that specializes in the repair and overhaul of fixed and rotor wings.
Tyler first joined Textron Aviation in 2014 as an engineer specialist before becoming the process leader for operations and technical marketing adviser. He was eventually promoted to general manager and led the Sacramento Service Center Team in maintaining the Textron Aviation fleet.
Earlier in his career, Tyler worked at the Cessna Aircraft Company as a senior engineer.
“I feel fortunate to be a part of an organization that is approaching one hundred years. It has an incredible legacy in this industry, within aviation,” said Tyler.
