Snowflake Expands Public Sector Portfolio With Night Shift Acquisition

Data, cloud and artificial intelligence company Snowflake has acquired Night Shift Development, a data analytics firm that serves the U.S. public sector.

Snowflake’s Chris Degnan, chief revenue officer, and Matthew Rose, industry principal of the global public sector, said in a blog post Thursday that the acquisition will expand its presence in the government contracting market.

Following the transaction completion, Snowflake will establish a dedicated entity focused on the U.S. public sector.

According to Degnan and Rose, data in the public sector is growing more critical to guide decision-makers in various agencies. The combination of Snowflake and Night Shift aims to provide government customers with tools to harness the power of data securely.

Timothy Tutt, co-founder and CEO of Night Shift, confirmed the acquisition in a LinkedIn post, adding that joining Snowflake is in line with his vision to democratize data analytics.

“Snowflake’s mission is to mobilize the world’s data by building the greatest data, AI and applications platform,” he said. “These visions are very aligned, and I am immensely excited about this next step in our journey and what it means for how we get to continue building great things under the Snowflake umbrella.”

Tutt now serves as regional vice president of national security at Snowflake.
