Cherokee Federal has purchased a majority stake in Advanced Technology Applications through the newly established growth capital firm Sovereign Capital as part of efforts to expand its presence in the federal contracting space.
ATA is a small data services company that has provided technical platforms across the areas of data strategy, data engineering, data science, technical project management and software development for federal and commercial clients since 2008, Cherokee Federal said Tuesday.
ATA’s customers include the departments of Defense and Homeland Security and the U.S. Intelligence Community.
“This is another exciting step in our strategic growth journey, and I am proud to showcase our continued commitment to innovation across our businesses,” said Steven Bilby, president of Cherokee Federal and Sovereign Capital.
“With Sovereign Capital, we have a distinct opportunity to leverage decades of experience in federal contracting and a successful track record of achieving growth through M&A activity,” Bilby added.
Sovereign Capital is owned by Cherokee Nation Businesses and is focused on investing in founder-led companies in the government contracting market.
