Shane Sims, an experienced defense and aerospace acquisition professional, was appointed vice president of business development for national operations at Parsons (NYSE: PSN), according to his LinkedIn post.
He previously served as Army account executive on the defense and intelligence team at the Chantilly, Virginia-based information technology provider.
Sims, in his new role, is tasked to lead business development professionals responsible for business growth pipeline that supports a $500 million business unit within the Parsons D&I sector.
Before joining Parsons, Sims worked as portfolio manager of programs at Science Applications International Corp. (Nasdaq: SAIC) and director for program management at L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX).
The executive came to the government contracting industry after almost two decades of stay in the U.S. Army. Notably, he served as company commander in combat operations in Iraq, scout platoon leader in Bosnia-Herzgovinia and director for all logistical operations for Brigade Combat Teams during deployments to Kosovo and Iraq.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Sims was also a deputy director to a senior executive service director in the Communications, Electronic, Research and Engineering Center in the Army Materiel Command.
