Pittsburgh-based Michael Baker International has purchased Athens, Georgia-headquartered logistics and disaster response firm MLU Services for an undisclosed sum and will operate the acquired business as part of Tidal Basin Group.
Michael Baker said Thursday the transaction will expand its emergency management, disaster response, program management capabilities and technology platforms for government and private sector clients.
Founded in 1999, MLU Services has supported the Federal Emergency Management Agency and its missions by providing temporary housing during national diasters and commands a network of 3,000 first responders across the U.S.
MLU holds a spot on FEMA’s potential $2.7 billion LogHOUSE contract, which stands for Logistics Housing Operations Unit Installation, Maintenance and Deactivation.
“Integrating MLU with Michael Baker International to complement and diversify the offerings of our Tidal Basin team enhances our combined capacity to offer swift, comprehensive resiliency consulting and technology solutions nationwide for the public and private sectors,” said Brian Lutes, CEO of Michael Baker International.
Michael Baker has more than 4,000 employees focused on providing engineering and consulting support services across five verticals: infrastructure, design-build services, federal programs and services, consulting and technology solutions and sustainable and resilient solutions.
Michael Baker acquired Tidal Basin in August 2023, operating the purchased emergency and disaster management consultancy as a sister company.
