L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has secured a potential $187 million contract to continue helping the U.S. Space Force maintain and upgrade its space surveillance systems and command centers dedicated to providing space domain awareness for military and civilian users.
The award exercises the option year five of the potential 10-year, $1.2 billion Maintenance Of Space Situational Awareness Integrated Capabilities contract awarded in 2020 to sustain and modernize the service branch’s SDA capabilities, L3Harris said Thursday.
Under the new award, the company will generate sensor metadata to help transition to a tactical SDA tasking approach.
MOSSAIC covers sustainment services for ground-based SDA sensors and space battle management command and control centers in Colorado, California and Virginia.
“We’re proud to continue our work on this program and help the U.S. Space Force ensure safety, security and sustainability across the entire space domain,” said Ed Zoiss, president of space and airborne systems at L3Harris.
