Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure, a limited liability company formed by BWX Technologies (NYSE: BWXT), Amentum and Fluor (NYSE: FLR), has won a 10-year, $45 billion contract from the Department of Energy to manage tank waste at Hanford Site in Washington state.
The award marks the second time H2C won the Hanford Integrated Tank Disposition Contract.
Work under Hanford ITDC includes the operation of tank farm facilities; operation of waste treatment and immobilization plant; and design, construction and operation of waste receiving facilities and treatment capabilities, DOE said Thursday.
The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract also covers project management, security and emergency services and other core functions and submission of a community commitment plan to the department.
In July 2023, DOE announced plans to extend its existing tank operation contract with Washington River Protection Solutions, which is owned by Amentum and Atkins with Orano serving as its integrated subcontractor.
The department’s Office of Environmental Management initially awarded Hanford ITDC to H2C in April 2023. However, Hanford Tank Disposition Alliance challenged the contract award by filing a lawsuit in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
HTDA is owned by Atkins Nuclear Secured, Jacobs Technology and Westinghouse Government Services.
