Hughes Network Systems will provide software-defined auto-PACE platforms and related modems for the space and defense subsidiary of SES in support of the latter’s contract work on the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Defense Experimentation Using Commercial Space Internet program.
Under a deal with SES Space & Defense, Hughes said Wednesday it will provide its Enterprise Management and Control and Network Management System capabilities, Smart Network Edge software and software-defined HM100 and HM400 satellite modems to deliver geostationary and medium Earth orbit broadband connectivity.
According to Hughes, SES Space & Defense will integrate a low Earth orbit platform with its auto-PACE offering and its capabilities will support proof of concept testing both on the ground and in the air.
