Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has secured a potential four-year, $123.2 million contract to sustain an electronic warfare tool designed to counter radio-controlled improvised explosive devices for the U.S. Navy, Air Force and government of Australia.
The contract covers engineering and sustainment support, other direct costs and provisioned item order for the Joint Counter Radio-Controlled Improvised Explosive Device Increment One Block One system, the Department of Defense said Friday.
JCREW I1B1 consists of mounted, dismounted and fixed-site variants that provide critical counter-IED support to on-the-move soldiers, mobile ground vehicles and permanent facilities or infrastructure.
The system achieved full operational capability in July 2023.
Naval Sea Systems Command received one bid for the JCREW I1B1 engineering and sustainment contract, which has a base value of $42.8 million.
NAVSEA will finance the contract using the Air Force’s fiscal 2023 and 2024 research, development, test and evaluation budget; the Navy’s fiscal 2024 RDT&E and operations and maintenance allocations; and foreign military sales funds.
Work will occur in San Diego, California, through January 2028.
