The State Department has approved the potential sale of RTX-built (NYSE: RTX) MK 54 all-up round lightweight torpedoes and related equipment to the German government under a potential $300 million foreign military sales deal.
RTX’s integrated defense systems division will serve as the principal contractor on the proposed transaction, which covers the provision of 80 MK 54 torpedoes along with recoverable exercise torpedoes, spare parts, tools and maintenance equipment, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.
Germany also requested training, publications, test equipment and engineering, technical and logistics support services.
DSCA noted that the European country will use the defense equipment to upgrade the anti-submarine warfare technologies for its P-8A aircraft fleet.
The proposed deal does not require the deployment of additional government or contractor representatives to Germany.
