Justin Taylor, most recently vice president of artificial intelligence at Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), has transitioned to the role of VP of the F-22 program at the Bethesda, Maryland-based aerospace and defense contractor, he announced in a LinkedIn post.
He succeeds Kevin “Red” Smith, who went into retirement after a more than two-decade career at Lockheed’s aeronautics business.
In his previous role, Taylor led the Lockheed Martin AI Center, where he helped advance AI breakthroughs and technology transitions in support of Joint All-Domain Command and Control.
“Many of the major milestones in my career have been tied to the F-22, and I’m thrilled to be more directly connected to and supporting the Raptor – ensuring it’s Digital, Dominant, and Ready wherever it’s needed!” Taylor said in his post.
He joined Lockheed in 2000 as a software engineer and has held roles of increasing responsibility since then, including engineering director within the company’s aeronautics business responsible for the Skunk Works division’s ISR portfolio.
Taylor is a member of the advisory council of The University of Texas at Austin’s Department of Computer Science.
