Congress on Saturday passed a continuing resolution to avert a government shutdown and extend federal funding at current levels through Nov. 17, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The Senate cleared the bipartisan stopgap funding measure by an 88-9 vote several hours after the House voted 335-91 to approve the bill, paving the way for President Joe Biden to sign the legislation late Saturday night.
The seven-week CR includes disaster relief funding worth $16 billion, extends the Federal Aviation Administration’s authorities through the end of December and renews the flood insurance program through Nov. 17.
The bill excludes funding for Ukraine and border security policies that Republicans are pushing to address the influx of migrants at the southern border.
After the vote, Senate leaders released a joint statement announcing their plan to introduce a bill in the coming weeks to provide continued security and economic assistance to Ukraine.
The signed CR will fund government operations at a current funding level of about $1.6 trillion a year, according to the report.
