Collins Aerospace to Produce Hydrodynamic Shaping Material for Navy Submarine Assemblies

Collins Aerospace, an RTX (NYSE: RTX) business, has won a $54.6 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to manufacture a hydrodynamic shaping material for U.S. Navy submarine applications.

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, received two bids for the HYSHMA procurement effort and the service branch will obligate $3.3. million in fiscal 2023 national sea-based deterrent funds on the award, the Department of Defense said Monday.

NSWC Carderock sought vendors earlier this year with the capability to produce such materials for unique and complex full-scale Columbia-class and Virginia-class submarine propulsor components.

Work will occur in Jacksonville, Florida, through March 2029.
