Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will develop a long-range electronic warfare system prototype for the second phase of a U.S. Army program aimed at providing higher echelons with situational awareness through the detection and disruption of signals of interest from adversaries.
The Terrestrial Layer System-Echelons Above Brigade is designed to support EW, signals intelligence and cyberspace collaboration among joint all-domain operations-enabled forces, the company said Tuesday.
Lockheed was one of the two companies selected in August 2022 to work on the initial phase of the TLS-EAB program.
“Moving into this next phase, we are going to continue to embrace Soldier Touch Points to drive the design while leveraging a proven DevSecOps pipeline and an open architecture that will enable a highly interoperable, configurable 21st Century Security solution that can be easily tailored for specific mission requirements,” said Deon Viergutz, vice president of spectrum convergence at Lockheed.
The defense contractor plans to build the prototype at its Syracuse, New York, facility and expects to receive additional support from its two other locations in New York and Pennsylvania.
Lockheed is also working on two Army programs – Terrestrial Layer System-Brigade Combat Team and Multi-Function Electronic Warfare-Air Large – as part of the service’s EW and intelligence modernization efforts.
