Space Development Agency Previews Tranche 2 Transport Layer ‘Alpha’ Constellation RFP

The Space Development Agency began the initial solicitation process for a space vehicle variant under the second tranche of its planned transport layer for a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit.

SDA plans to work with small businesses and choose at least one nonprofit research institution or a nontraditional defense contractor to build Alpha spacecraft for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture Tranche 2 Transport Layer, according to a notice posted Friday on SAM.gov.

The agency is looking to procure up to 100 T2TL-Alpha space vehicles to offer high-connectivity communications for combat missions across the globe.

Multiple vendors will have the chance to deliver 19 SVs making up four lowly inclined orbital planes, and four SVs comprising six highly inclined orbital planes.

Interested parties can submit input to the agency until June 5.
