L3Harris Secures $275M NOAA GOES-R Ground System Sustainment Support Contract

L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has received a five-year, $275.2 million contract to help the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration update and maintain ground infrastructure for the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites-R Series constellation.

The company will provide sustainment support to a system that receives data from GOES-R Series satellites and generates real-time data products for the national weather enterprise, NOAA said Thursday.

Work will occur at the company’s facility in Florida and at NOAA facilities in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia through May 10, 2028, under the Geostationary Ground Sustainment Services contract.

GOES-R Series is a collaborative program between NOAA and NASA and its satellites provide data used to generate weather forecasts, monitor solar activity, space weather and environmental hazards such as wildfires, fog and volcanic ash.

The GGSS indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award follows the GOES-R antenna system contract issued in 2010 and the core ground system contract in 2009.
