The State Department has approved a potential $350 million foreign military sale of equipment and services to refurbish Bahrain’s AH-1W attack helicopter fleet.
Bell, a subsidiary of Textron (NYSE: TXT), will serve as the principal contractor on the proposed deal covering the refurbishment of 24 AH-1W excess defense articles, a full-motion trainer, missile launchers and spare aircraft engines, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.
Bahrain additionally requested training, publications, logistics and program support assistance.
The country made the FMS request to the U.S. government in an effort to modernize a key capability for search and rescue, maritime patrol and close air support operations.
