Denver-based cybersecurity company Optiv has purchased Hanover, Maryland-based government IT provider ClearShark in a strategy to expand the former’s work with federal agencies, CRN reported Monday.
The deal marks the company’s first acquisition under Lynch, who told CRN in an interview he expects to close more purchases moving forward.
Lynch added that the ClearShark purchase “sets the foundation for us to really bring a public sector focus on an even larger scale.”
Optiv’s workforce of more than 2,500 will increase by 125 employees and the company forecasts revenue from its government business to increase by more than double to 20 percent as a result of the combination.
Brian Strosser, president of ClearShark since October 2021 and a three-decade industry veteran, will lead Optiv’s federal business.
