Boeing (NYSE: BA) has received a $2.25 billion contract modification to produce 15 additional KC-46A tankers for the U.S. Air Force.
The award for the ninth aircraft production lot under a previously awarded contract covers licenses, data and subscriptions, the Department of Defense said Friday.
Work under the contract option will occur in Seattle through Aug. 31, 2026.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, is the contracting activity and is obligating the full modification amount using procurement funds for fiscal year 2023.
The contractor received orders for 15 KC-46A units under lot 7 and another 15 tankers under lot 8 in January 2021 and August 2022, respectively.
KC-46A is designed to refuel U.S. and allied military aircraft, transport personnel and cargo and support aeromedical evacuation missions.
