The Defense Innovation Unit is inviting industry and academia to propose commercial open source intelligence platforms that will work to help the Department of Defense collect and analyze information on science and technology developments by foreign state competitors and adversaries.
DOD is eyeing U.S.-made OSINT prototypes that can use machine learning and data science applications to gather information on adversarial S&T initiatives, according to a project notice posted on DIU’s website.
Technology areas of interest cited in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, biotechnology and high-performance computing.
OSINT prototypes must provide insights from publicly-available and commercially-available information to provide a full picture of S&T investment and development activities by U.S. adversaries.
The platforms must also recognize user-defined patterns in open source data that identify emerging S&T development trends in each area of interest and characterize participating individuals, organizations and networks.
Interested parties have until Jan. 12 to submit proposals.
