Intel’s (Nasdaq: INTC) foundry business has established an alliance to improve semiconductor design and production to meet the requirements of national security and government applications.
Initial members of the U.S. Military, Aerospace and Government Alliance formed by Intel Foundry Services include Synopsys (Nasdaq: SNPS), Cadence (Nasdaq: CDNS), Siemens EDA, Trusted Semiconductor Solutions and Intrinsix, Intel said Monday.
Through the USMAG Alliance, IFS will work with member companies that provide electronic design automation, intellectual property and design services to come up with secure chip design methodologies to deliver operational and functional security that government and military applications require.
In August 2021, Intel was selected to build a commercial foundry infrastructure under the first phase of the Department of Defense’s Rapid Assured Microelectronics Prototypes-Commercial program.
“Semiconductors enable technologies critical to U.S. national security and economic and global competitiveness. … IFS is uniquely positioned to lead this effort and galvanize the ecosystem to build a more resilient and secure supply chain for U.S. military, aerospace and government customers,” said IFS President Randhir Thakur.
