Software investor Insight Partners has named seven public sector leaders to its newly created government advisory board to advise the private equity firm on investment strategy and programs meant to further build up its portfolio companies that are supporting government clients.
“Our inaugural GAB members come with different experiences across the U.S. Government, but they share a firm belief that government needs great software,” Nick Sinai, a senior adviser at Insight Partners, and Richard Wells, managing director at the firm, wrote in a joint blog post published Thursday.
The members of GAB are:
- Ash Carter, former secretary of defense and director of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government
- Essye Miller, former principal deputy chief information officer and chief information security officer at the Department of Defense
- Jack Shanahan, a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant general and former director of the Department of Defense’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center
- Joe Votel, a retired U.S. Army general, former commander of Central Command and Special Operations Command and current president and CEO of Business Executives for National Security
- Nicole Wong, former deputy U.S. chief technology officer in the Obama Administration and former vice president and deputy general counsel at Google
- Sue Gordon, former principal deputy director of national intelligence and former deputy director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
- Will Roper, former assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, technology and logistics and founding director of the Pentagon’s Strategic Capabilities Office
Gordon, Roper and Shanahan are Wash100 Award recipients.
Insight Partners has invested in several companies operating in the national security market, including Recorded Future, Rebellion Defense, Hawkeye360, LeoLabs and Shift5.
