Spectral Energies has won an eight-year, $184.3 million contract to conduct studies for the turbine engine division under the Air Force Research Laboratory’s aerospace systems directorate.
The Department of Defense said Wednesday the company will aim to advance propulsion technology for DOD platforms through the Innovative Combustion and Propulsion Research Program.
AFRL’s ICP Research Program centers around aerothermal and mechanical processes in gas turbines, piston engines and other similar machines.
The goal is applying knowledge of these processes to modernize or build new propulsion concepts for demonstration in a military system, according to solicitation documents posted on SAM.gov.
Contract work will primarily take place within Air Force laboratories and test facilities located at Wright-Patterson AF Base in Ohio.
