Lockheed Receives $3.3B Army Contract for Counterfire Radar Production Services

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has secured a five-year, $3.26 billion contract to produce counterfire target acquisition radar systems for the U.S. Army.

The firm-fixed-price contract covers full-rate AN/TPQ-53 production services, provision of spare parts and support services and system deployment to multiple customers under the foreign military sales program, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

Army Contracting Command received one bid for the effort via an online solicitation process and will determine funds and work locations with each order.

Lockheed designed its AN/TPQ-53 mobile radar system to help soldiers detect and locate indirect fires from rockets, artillery and mortars using the system’s 90- or 360-degree coverage area mode.
