John Sherman, chief information officer at the Department of Defense and a 2022 Wash100 Award winner, will assume responsibility for the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program from the office of the undersecretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment as part of a realignment effort.
“The CMMC team, led by Stacy Bostjanick, will be aligned under the Deputy CIO for Cybersecurity to increase the program’s integration with other Defense Industrial Base Cybersecurity programs,” Sherman said in a statement published Thursday.
“We are moving out in the coming weeks on the rulemaking process and look forward to continuing critical collaboration with industry stakeholders,” he added.
Deputy Defense Secretary and a 2022 Wash100 awardee Kathleen Hicks ordered the realignment, which includes the move of a team of six civilian employees from DOD’s acquisition office, along with related contract support, to the CIO office.
Sherman, who was recently named acting chief digital and artificial intelligence officer, will start submitting in the next few weeks proposed changes to the Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement rulemaking process to facilitate collaboration on the requirements.
