The State Department has cleared Australia’s request to procure Lockheed Martin-built (NYSE: LMT) Hellfire missile systems from the U.S. through a potential $108 million foreign military sales agreement.
The proposed FMS transaction will cover the supply of up to 800 AGM-114R2 missiles and technical support for joint attack munition systems and tactical aviation ground munition activities, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Monday.
Work could also include programmatic and logistical services and deliveries, including spare parts, classified and unclassified documents, storage services and repairs.
Australia wants to acquire the air-to-ground weapon to support anti-tank warfare and armed reconnaissance operations.
DSCA said the proposed sale will not require Lockheed and the U.S. government to send representatives to Australia.
