BlackSky to Provide NASA Satellite Imaging Data; Brian O’Toole Quoted

BlackSky (NYSE: BKSY) has received a five-year blanket purchase agreement to provide high revisit satellite imaging data in support of NASA’s Earth observation research efforts.

“Helping NASA-backed researchers broaden their understanding around critical changes in the Earth’s ecosystems, oceanography, geographic and polar sciences is vitally important,” BlackSky CEO Brian O’Toole said in a statement published Friday.

O’Toole added that the company’s satellite constellation provides imaging data that could facilitate pattern-of-life anomaly detection and offer actionable Earth observations when combined with the Spectra AI platform, a monitoring service backed by artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision and other computing techniques.

Research teams across the world can gain access to high spatial and spectral resolutions through NASA’s Commercial Smallsat Data Acquisition Program.
