The U.S. Air Force has indicated its intent to award Boeing (NYSE: BA) a sole-source contract to study and analyze the E-7A Wedgetail aircraft configuration as the branch looks to replace its current E-3 Sentry airborne warning and control system.
A special notice posted on SAM.gov says that the government is seeking additional information about the company’s E-7A aircraft offering.
The possible contract action is intended to determine how the airborne early warning and control platform can meet configuration standards and mandates set forth by the Air Force.
Under the proposed sole-source award, Boeing will provide data to USAF about systems engineering, cybersecurity, program protection, airworthiness, open mission systems and M-Code GPS.
