Lockheed to Produce More Sentinel A4 Radar Systems for Army

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has received a contract from the U.S. Army to build five more Sentinel A4 radar systems intended for the detection and identification of multiple aerial threats.

The company said Monday it projects the delivery of additional radars to occur over the next year for use in operational assessments at the service branch.

Each A4 radar will be built to help military operators detect cruise missiles, unmanned aerial systems, rotary wing and fixed aircraft, and rocket, artillery and mortar threats in contested environments.

The additional order comes after Lockheed produced the first A4 system as part of a $281 million contract won in September 2019 and the company attributed its accomplishment to finish the work five months ahead of schedule to agile development, open architecture and collaboration with the Army.

The Bethesda, Maryland-based contractor expects to deliver the first five radars in March 2022.
