Mitre executives Wilson Wang and Jay Schnitzer have assumed senior vice president roles at the McLean, Virginia-based nonprofit research company.
Wang will continue to serve as chief financial officer with oversight of the company’s financial analytics, enterprise accounting, contracts and pricing, financial planning and analysis and internal audit, Mitre said Tuesday.
He became VP, CFO and treasurer at Mitre in 2018 after serving as head of enterprise transformation. He started his career at Mitre in 2009 as a financial analysis principal and held leadership roles, including finance director of the Center for Connected Government and director of finance and assistant treasurer.
Prior to Mitre, Wang worked at Computer Sciences Corp., BearingPoint and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT).
In addition to the SVP position, Schnitzer will continue to oversee Mitre’s independent research and development program as chief technology officer and chief medical officer.
He joined Mitre in 2013 and held leadership positions since then, including director of biomedical sciences and VP and CTO. He also co-led the COVID-19 Healthcare Coalition with Mayo Clinic.
Schnitzer previously worked at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency as director of the defense sciences office. He also served as chief medical officer and SVP at Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) and as an attending pediatric surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Jason Providakes, president and CEO of Mitre and a two-time Wash100 awardee, said Wang is responsible for ensuring the company’s fiscal health and Schnitzer oversees more than 200 independent R&D initiatives on an annual basis.
Providakes added that their addition to the executive leadership team will enable Mitre to deliver on its mission.
