The Department of the Air Force’s founding chief architect officer will keynote an Aug. 31 virtual forum hosted by the Potomac Officers Club to discuss the role of the U.S. Air Force and Space Force in efforts to help the Department of Defense enable its Joint All-Domain Command and Control concept.
Preston Dunlap assumed his chief architect post in March 2019 and is responsible for transforming national security technology development within the two service branches that constitute DAF.
DAF’s top modernization priority is the Advanced Battle Management System, a central element of the JADC2 strategy that will work to amalgamate a vast array of military sensor information from the sea, land, air, space and cyber domains with the help of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Dunlap told the Potomac Officers Club at its annual Air Force Acquisition Forum in July the department’s current initiatives focus on data, AI, network modernization and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance integration.
He noted during the virtual event’s panel discussion on digital acquisition that helping the military speed up the kill chain is one of the three DAF mission areas where JADC2 fits in.
His address to POC’s forum will be followed by a Keynote Q&A session and a panel discussion that Kate Mercer, a vice president of Booz Allen Hamilton, will moderate.
