Gregory Kausner, executive director for international cooperation at the Department of Defense, has been assigned to perform the duties of defense undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment.
DOD said Tuesday it also appointed Paul Cramer, DOD’s principal deputy assistant secretary for sustainment (installations), to serve as Kausner’s deputy.
As the acting head of USD(A&S), Kausner will oversee matters associated with defense acquisition processes and workforce, contract administration, logistics, installations and environment, operational energy, weapons programs and the defense industrial base.
He most recently performed the duties of deputy in the A&S organization and previously held leadership roles at the Defense Security Cooperation Agency and the State Department.
A licensed professional engineer, Cramer has managed DOD’s sustainment function since January in his assistant secretary role. His previous roles include deputy assistant secretary for installations, housing and partnerships, and director of public works at Fort Irwin in California and at Fort Polk in Louisiana.
