Jason Porter, president of AT&T’s public sector and FirstNet, was featured in the most recent Executive Spotlight interview with ExecutiveBiz on Wednesday.
During the discussion with ExecutiveBiz, Porter touched on his recent transition into his role with FirstNet as well as the impact of a recent VA modernization task order win, the company’s momentum moving from network services to EIS, improving federal agency infrastructures, 5G experiments and more.
Here’s an excerpt from Jason Porter discussing the acceleration that AT&T has had with cloud and other advanced capabilities for federal agencies and the challenges since the COVID-19 pandemic:
“The pandemic challenged everyone, but the core challenge to the public sector agencies we have the honor to serve is transitioning into modernization efforts. I’ve seen several technology shifts throughout my career: it can’t be a comprehensive ‘jump in with both feet’ into new technology. There’s always a transition phase where it’s necessary to keep the current infrastructure up and running while phasing in the new infrastructure and advanced capabilities.”
