Jen Easterly, head of firm resilience and the Fusion Resilience Center at Morgan Stanley, received Senate confirmation to serve as director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, three months after the White House announced her nomination for the role, Politico reported Monday.
In a unanimous vote, senators approved Easterly to lead the government agency that works with public and private sector organizations in efforts to defend critical U.S. infrastructure against cyber threats.
Easterly fills a leadership role that has been vacant since Christopher Krebs stepped down as CISA director in November 2020 under the Trump administration.
She previously oversaw cyber policy matters for the Biden-Harris transition team, worked at the National Security Agency as deputy for counterterrorism and played a role in the establishment of U.S. Cyber Command.
The two-time Bronze Star recipient spent more than two decades of intelligence and cyber work in the U.S. Army.
