Stu Shea, chairman, president and CEO of Peraton, was presented his 2021 Wash100 Award, the most esteemed and respected award in all of government contracting (GovCon), by Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson last week during a recent visit to the company’s office.
This marks the fourth consecutive year and fifth overall that Stu Shea has received this honor in the award’s highly prestigious eight-year history. Executive Mosaic created the Wash100 Award to celebrate and recognize the achievements of the elite leaders in the GovCon industry.
Each year, roughly half of the previous Wash100 winners don’t receive the award in consecutive years and often don’t win more than once in a career, which makes Shea’s continued success as a five-time Wash100 recipient in our sector all the more impressive.
Shea’s relentless drive for excellence has led to significant growth for Peraton in the GovCon industry and that momentum will continue to push Shea and the company for the rest of 2021 and beyond.
“There is a list of only a handful of people in our community with the experience and vision to pull together such a challenging and significant strategic amalgamation of Peraton, Perspecta and Northrop Grumman,” said Jim Garrettson. “Many industry experts believe Stu Shea is at the very top of that list and all eyes will be upon him in the months ahead, as he continues to make the critical adjustments for this integration to succeed.”
For his 2021 Wash100 Award win, Executive Mosaic recognized Stu Shea for his leadership in Peraton’s expansion efforts through acquisitions and contract awards from government and military customers for technology development, maintenance and support work.
Most notably, Shea is at the forefront of the significant organizational changes for Peraton after Veritas Capital, the private-equity owner of Peraton, acquired Northrop Grumman’s federal information technology and mission support services business for $3.4 billion in Dec. 2020 as well as striking a deal to acquire Perspecta for $7.1 billion in Jan. 2021.
“As a result of our recent acquisitions, we now have the right team, the right technology and, as one of the largest integrators, the right scale, to deliver against the biggest challenges facing the government,” said Stu Shea in a statement to GovCon Wire.
“We are building a uniquely different national security and government services company, positioned to deliver differentiated, proven, and secure technology solutions across a broad set of government customers,” Shea explained.
Through the acquisitions of Perspecta and Northrop’s IT business, Shea elaborated that the implementation of both companies provides Peraton with a greater range of capabilities and will drive the company’s transformation into a next-generation national security company that supports federal clients across the cyber, health, border, election and financial security areas.
Peraton added contracts and people with the Northrop deal. Shea called the transaction an “additional accretive element” and he has advocated for a hybrid workforce that keeps Peraton’s employees safe and continues to drive operations as well as the benefits for its customers.
“…One thing will not change. We will remain committed to maintaining a level of agility often lacking in government contracting,” said Shea. “It is essential to our continued ability to do what can’t be done in support of missions of consequence.”
Executive Mosaic congratulates Peraton and Stu Shea for his 2021 Wash100 Award. His vision, leadership and drive to expand the company and its presence in the GovCon industry and federal landscape has cemented him as one of the most significant executives of consequence for the rest of 2021 and beyond.
